I have a question: How can I reach the pay-per-click online advertisers in India? In most of my posts here on Online Siesta, I try sharing something I know about online marketing and in text ads. But in this post, I kindly ask to post a question hoping you can help me and others.

When Visitors Complain about In Text Ads
Sometimes, despite their subtleness and clear advantages to the website’s publisher, visitors do complain about the introduction of in-text ads to a website. Most often, this would happen when a website has a community of regular visitors who are not always open to changes. From my experience, the number of complaints will be very low when compared to the number of visitors and they will also disappear after a short while. Nonetheless, sometimes a publisher must deal with the complaints. This is especially true when the complaining visitor is an important...

Search Bubbles within In Text Ads
Have you ever hovered over an in text ad double underline link only to find a bubble that offers to search more information about the highlighted term? This is a Search Bubble. When clicking on a search bubble, the visitor is lead to a landing page with search results for that certain highlighted term. Clearly, this is not exactly an advertisement, because the visitor is only offered search results and not more related content from an advertiser. But you do see quite a lot of these search bubbles among other in text ads… Where are they coming from? And more importantly,...

The Online Advertiser Advantage
The advertiser’s fantasy has always been a medium where highly targeted potential customers seek specific information and knowingly choose to get exposed to ads. Sponsored search ads fulfilled this fantasy. When people search online, they are looking for specific information, their location and some other characteristics are known, and they’re willingly clicking on search results – including sponsored ads. This explains the phenomenal success of Google AdWords for both advertisers and Google.
In the online world, display ads, mostly in the form of banners,...

Yes, In Text Advertising is a form of Contextual Advertising
I was browsing through a magazine – a real one with paper pages – and noticed a lifestyle article about a new mattress that uses three-dimensions. Well, I wondered, don’t most mattresses have three dimensions? But then, on the next page, a full-page advertisement announced a new 3D mattress. Hmmm… was that a coincidence? Of course not. The magazine sold the mattress ad and probably added an editorial article about the new technology. Most magazines try to separate editorial content from advertising, to keep appearance of professional...

Choosing a Business Model for In Text Ads Monetization
So, you finally decided to add double underline ads on your website. Now, you need to choose which business model would work best for you. Website monetization can be managed with partners who pay for different goals – they pay per click, per acquisition, per one thousand views, per lead, and probably per anything you can think of. For in text ads, the best business model would be pay per click, also known as PPC (and from the advertiser’s point of view – cost per click or CPC). The justifications for this model can be found in the balance...

Yes, you can monetize your website with in text ads together with Google AdSense ads. I could have finished this post here, with a simple Yes, but I get this question so often that I thought a few more words can make it clearer. Plus, there’s an bonus extra insight.
Why even ask about AdSense?
Websites integrate Google AdSense ads with almost any other kind of advertising. In fact, AdSense has became such a standard monetization tool that you can see it alongside any other method of online advertising. So why do website publishers still ask about...
